Key components and features
Valve body: The housing that fits between two pipe flanges, commonly in wafer or lug styles. It contains and protects the internal components.
Stem: A shaft that connects the internal disc to the external operating mechanism, such as a manual handle or an actuator. It can be a single piece or a split-stem design.
Disc: A disc-shaped element mounted on the stem that rotates 90 to open or close the valve. Its position determines the flow rate.
Bearings/Bushings: Often located in the upper and lower portions of the valve body, these components support the stem and ensure smooth rotation. They are engineered to resist wear, corrosion, and chemical attack.
Seals: O-rings or other packing materials that prevent process media from leaking along the stem and prevent the stem from touching the media in corrosive applications.
